Brighton Guitar Group is a group of guitarists who meet regularly to play and perform music.
The group is led by professional guitarist and teacher Jon Rattenbury and is a great way to develop one's playing as well as the pleasure of making music with like minded people. We are a friendly and welcoming group and always seeking new members. Contact us, by clicking the blue button on this page, if you would like to attend our sessions.
There are two groups to take part in. We meet most Saturday afternoons at BHASVIC for a rehearsal for each group:
Classical guitar ensemble - this group is suitable for guitarists who can read music and play classical guitar, and want to explore the joys of playing together. We play a wide range of repertoire, including Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary music.
Guitar songs group - this group focuses on playing guitar & singing, and is open to anyone who can play guitar, or another instrument. We have previously had players on bass guitar, mandolin and ukulele, and any instrument or singer is welcome.
The group also takes part in performances throughout the year - see our 'Performances' page, under 'Group sessions' in the menu.
Membership is on a term by term basis, with the costs being split evenly between players - typically between £7 to £10 a session, with usually 10 sessions per term.

Twice a year, the guitar group performs at Platform, an event that is open to all musicians who would like an opportunity to perform - see the 'Platform' page in the menu above.
We also run Guitars by the Sea ensemble events - see the 'Guitars by the Sea' pages in the menu above.
If you are interested in guitar lessons, you can contact Jon Rattenbury, who is experienced in teaching at all levels, from complete beginners to advanced guitarists preparing for performance, audition and college entry. Jon can help with guitar playing in many styles on classical, electric, acoustic and bass guitar.
