Jon Rattenbury

Jon Rattenbury, M.A. (Music)

Jon organised the first Brighton & Hove guitar group session in 2010, and has been directing the group ever since. The ensemble has given a number of performances and explored a wide range of repertoire, including Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and various styles of contemporary music.

As an active guitarist and music educator, Jon has wide experience as a performer, both as soloist and in ensembles, and in bands and musical theatre. He has taught and presented at colleges and universities, has worked as a music examiner for RSL and IBO, and as a music syllabus consultant for ABRSM & RSL.

Jon completed his Masters in music at Goldsmiths, University of London, and has interests in both historical and contemporary musicology. In 2014, the Lute Society published Jon's critical edition of 17th century baroque guitar songs from the library of Samuel Pepys at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Current projects include working in ensembles on both classical and electric guitar, currently rehearsing for planned future performances and recordings.
