Brighton Guitar Group

Brighton Guitar Group is a group of guitarists who meet regularly to play and perform music. The group is led by professional guitarist and teacher Jon Rattenbury and is a great way to develop one's playing as well as the pleasure of making music with like minded people. We are a friendly and welcoming group and always seeking new members. Contact us, by clicking the button below, if you would like to attend our sessions.

There are two groups to take part in. We meet most weeks at BHASVIC for a rehearsal for each group:

Classical guitar ensemble - this group is suitable for guitarists who can read music and play classical guitar, and want to explore the joys of playing together. We play a wide range of repertoire, including Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary music.

Guitar songs group - this group focuses on playing guitar & singing, and is open to anyone who can play guitar, or another instrument. We have previously had players on bass guitar, mandolin and ukulele, and any instrument or singer is welcome.

*NEW MONTHLY PERFORMANCE SESSION*

*STARTING IN SEPTEMBER 2024*

Players from the classical ensemble and guitar songs group are meeting for a regular performance evening, starting in September 2024. This is an opportunity to try out solo pieces, songs, duets, and anything else - a great way of practicing music performance.

It's a bit like an 'open mic' informal performance. The session is also open to anyone, even if you don't take part in one of the groups, and all instruments and singers are welcome.

Several times a year we perform at an event open to the public. Membership is on a term by term basis, with the costs being split evenly between players.  This varies slightly as numbers change but is typically between £5 to £10 a session, with usually 10 sessions per term, followed by the performance.
