Brighton Guitar Group

Brighton Guitar Group is a group of guitarists who meet regularly to play and perform music. The group is led by professional guitarist and teacher Jon Rattenbury and is a great way to develop one's playing as well as the pleasure of making music with like minded people. We are a friendly and welcoming group and always seeking new members. Contact us, by clicking the button below, if you would like to attend our sessions.

There are two groups to take part in. We meet most weeks at BHASVIC for a rehearsal for each group:

Classical guitar ensemble - this group is suitable for guitarists who can read music and play classical guitar, and want to explore the joys of playing together. We play a wide range of repertoire, including Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary music. During 2024, Brighton Guitar Group is taking part in an exciting project with New Music Brighton, working on original music written for our guitar ensemble. Click on this link to find out more:

Guitar songs group - this group focuses on playing guitar & singing, and is open to anyone who can play guitar, or another instrument. We have previously had players on bass guitar, mandolin and ukulele, and any instrument or singer is welcome.

Several times a year we perform at an event open to the public. Membership is on a term by term basis, with the costs being split evenly between players.  This varies slightly as numbers change but is typically between £5 to £10 a session, with usually 10 sessions per term, followed by the performance.
