Ensemble Tutors

Stephen Gordon, formerly Head of Guitar at the Royal Welsh College of Music, is a highly versatile and respected musician renowned for his work with guitar ensembles at Dartington College, Exeter University, Tilburg and Groningen Conservatoires, West Dean Guitar Festival, Iserlohn Guitar Symposium, Prussia Cove Guitar Seminar and the Royal College of Music. 

Stephen has given guitar recitals at festivals in the UK, Holland, France and Germany and plays theorbo and baroque guitar continuo with various period instrument ensembles. 

Mark Eden studied at the Royal Academy of Music, winning the Julian Bream Prize and the Principal's Prize, receiving regular classes with Julian Bream and John Williams. He formed a guitar duo with Chris Stell and they have since achieved international acclaim while performing all around the world for over thirty years.

In 2003 the duo were only the second guitarists to be made editor’s choice in Gramophone magazine, after Julian Bream, with their recording of works by Stephen Dodgson. Recently Mark completed two projects for guitar duo music by the Catalan composer Federico Mompou, released on BGS Records, and a recording of Scarlatti Sonatas released in 2023.

Mark plays in the VIDA Guitar Quartet, touring regularly in the United States, Europe and China, and contributes quartet arrangements including De Falla’s El Amor Brujo, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.3, and Schubert’s great Fantasia in F minor. Mark also featured on recent recordings of Stephen Dodgson songs with tenor James Gilchrist, baritone Marcus Farnsworth, and mezzo Katie Bray. 

Mark is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music and teaches at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.


Kianush Robeson graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music where he studied with John Mills. He won the John Mills guitar prize, achieved a gold honour award in the IFA competiton in 2020, and was a finalist in the Houston International Guitar Competition 2021.

He has toured extensively throughout the south coast of England with his programme ‘Impressions of Segovia’ and audiences praise his tone and musical sensitivity. Recently he has recorded the programme in Spain, released in early 2024.

Kianush’s unique sound has led to collaborations with luthiers Stephen Eden, Stuart Christie, Oren Myers to record on their instruments.

Kianush has been a regular tutor Royal Greenwich Classical Guitar Festival held at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. He has also founded two guitar societies in Bexhill and Hertfordshire, both including an international concert

Kianush plays on a guitar built by Phillip Woodfield in Catsfield East Sussex and is supported by Knobloch Strings.
